Shoes and Booties For Paw Protection This Winter

Winter has arrived for most of the County, and with that brings colder temperatures, rain and snow, burr! For those of us with fur babies in the family, this means getting our pups out for their walks is about to get a wee bit challenging. While we take certain measures to bundle everyone up, we should also be aware of what this means for our dogs paws. Extreme weather conditions can do damage to their feet, and at the very least make them uncomfortable. No need to make a hasty walk or hurry home only to watch your dog lick their paws from discomfort. Lucky for us there are now some excellent products on the market to help to combat winters drastic weather conditions, and put the pep back in their step!

Dog Booties are often recommended for those dogs that live in the colder regions. Snow and ice are hard on a pups feet. The salt often used to clean paths and walkways is also damaging to their paws.  Arming your pet with a pair of shoes for dogs such as the Thinsulate Aspen suede dog booties will give him optimal protection which means a happy, carefree and worry free walk for the both of you, bonus! The more time you can enjoy the outdoors the better!

Cabo Dog Boutique has nice a selection of dog booties or dog shoes to choose from. Girlie girls who want to strut their stuff will be happy wearing a pair of White and Pink Fur Dog Booties. These dog booties are have a designer look to them, but great protection and warm thinsulate lining. Duggs Shearling Dog Booties are available in two colors, tan and pink, so while you are comfy in your Uggs, your fur baby can also be cozy in their Duggs.
The products we carry are sassy and fashionable, which is always fun! But they are also made to withstand the elements. Holding up to Mother Nature is top priority.

Paw protection is a good idea for any active pup who trail hikes or has an active lifestyle in warmer regions as well. Protecting against the heat is as important as protecting against the cold.  Having a pair of dog booties or dog shoes handy is a good idea for any pet owner because chances are, at some point in time, you will need them! For dogs who are not exposed to sub frigid temperatures, Cabo Dog Boutique recommends Pawz Dog Boots. These dog shoes come in a pack of 12. The World's only disposable and reusable water-proof dog boot, they are made of natural rubber. PAWZ dog booties are  biodegradable  and designed to go on easily and fit securely. No zippers or straps to worry about, fashionable yet durable. These dog shoes come in six different sizes to pick from, to ensure optimal fit.

Winter is a magnificent season, why not make the most of it! Using protective dog footwear has never been easier. With some careful consideration and measuring, you and your dog can be off and going in no time flat! Woof!

November Is Adopt A Senior Dog Month!

Did you know that November is Adopt A Senior Dog Month? At Cabo Dog Boutique we do our best to spread the word of special rescue groups or adoption advocacy groups to encourage pet adoption. Senior dogs have a very special place in our hearts so we thought this was the perfect time to share some of the high lights to adopting a senior dog and making them a special part of your family!

Here we have the ASPCA Top Ten Reasons To Adopt An Older Dog. Heck, not everyone is into potty training so adopting a mature dog that is already housebroken is a definite plus! Also, Senior Dogs are incredibly loving and have a disposition of grace and ease. Those puppy years can be rough, but as a dog matures they begin to settle into their own, which is why the reason "What you see is what you get" can be a real blessing. Adopting a senior dog often times can be the  fast track to having the dog you always dreamed of!
If you have been thinking of adopting a dog already, by choosing a senior dog you can be a true hero. Seniors are often the last to be adopted and with the stress and noise of the shelter, the difficulty a senior dog endures can have a very negative consequence.  By choosing to adopt a Senior Dog you are literally saving a life, what better reason is there!
Mature dogs are great at enjoying easy living!  If you like to relax and don't want a high energy dog that needs a lot of exercise, a senior dog will fit in nicely to your home environment.
Cabo Dog Boutique has worked with some amazing organizations that raise money and fund special programs for our senior dog population. The Grey Muzzle Organization is a fantastic group that works to enable animal welfare organizations to improve their ability to provide care, comfort, and loving homes to senior dogs. By raising funds, they can distribute to carefully selected organizations to ensure that senior dogs are getting the care and comfort they deserve. They host a special program called Donate A Bed where a person, family or company can donate a special bed designed for a senior shelter dog so they can rest easily and be more comfortable while waiting for their forever home. Cabo Dog donated to this fund last year, its a great program!
Just about any adoption or rescue group will have access to senior dogs in your community. One special group we support is Muttville Senior Dog Rescue. This organization has done so much for our senior population. Through education, advocacy and hard work they have taken in, rescued and happily re-homed countless lucky mutts since their inception in 2007.  You can always contact them for a reference of a group in your area!
With the holidays coming up, we know that a special puppy is often on the list. Puppies need homes too, but if you think a senior dog would be a possible fit into your home we highly encourage you to consider adopting a senior. The love that comes from an older dog is immeasurable. Why wait for that puppy to grow up, when you can begin to enjoy the ease and pleasure of making a senior dog your companion today. Its something you won't regret! Woof!
