A wild off-season led to some emerging powerhouses such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds and others as they made bold off-season moves. The "apple of the eye" for many team owners was now-Dodger pitcher, Zack Greinke. In a game of cat-and-mouse, Greinke was courted by many teams and eventually found himself in the crosshairs with a big contact from a Dodgers team whose ownership was revamped with its purchase this summer.

The more exciting off-season stories seem to hover around the AL West. The headline story came from Josh Hamilton leaving the Texas Rangers for a $125 million contract offered by the division rival, The Lost Angeles Angels ofAnaheim. Insinuating that he didn't feel "wanted" enough, Hamilton drove to deeming the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex a "non baseball town" and provoking fans to launch initiatives to sit silent for Hamilton rather than boo him in his return to Texas.

The Houston Astros are the new members of the AL West where they are welcomed by the Mariners, Angels, Rangers and now hot Oakland A's, who made a late season push and beat the Rangers in a pigtail 1-game elimination playoff game.

With so much excitement surrounding MLB this year, it's easy to understand why many don't have a firm grasp on who will content for a championship this year. Will the Cardinals continue to make their mark as the most clutch team in baseball? Or will more traditional powerhouses like the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox return to glory? Only time will tell.
