Get Outside with your Furry Friend !

The weather is definitely warming up and it’s worth moving your exercise to the outdoors to soak it up! Opt for a quick afternoon job outside rather than running on a treadmill inside. Hop in a swimming pool for a couple of laps instead of cycling indoors and most importantly - take your little "tubby puppy" with you.

After all, it’s taken a long time for spring to come this year so it’s worth enjoying! All winter long your furry friend has been laying around and taking short walks due to the cold elements. Now, it's time to slim down... both of you!

Explore New Routes

You’ll have to take your dog outside for a potty break anyways, right? Why not freshen up the route you both take so that you aren’t begrudgingly walking along the same route you do every week and your dog isn’t smelling the same spots they always do. Shake things up a bit! Grab that dog leash and head out the door. Check out Cabo Dog Boutique's new Clip-on Dog Leash Accessory Bag. You can add your must have items and attach it all to the dog leash.

Find a local dog park or a trail outdoors, grab bottled water for you and your pet and hit the ground running …or walking! Or try a great travel dog bowl to take - every little athlete needs one. You can even take your dog to some MLB watching parties and enjoy our sports apparel for dogs.

Play Dog Games

The same tug-of-war game in the living room can get a bit old after awhile. Take your pet outside for a game of fetch with a new dog toy or try out a dog sport such as agility training or Frisbee catching. You’ll love the variety and your dog will love the new competitive challenge.

Train for a Race

It’s the perfect weather to hit the road, beach or grass and begin training for a small race like a 5K. There are plenty of opportunities to support a 5K in your community as many of them give their proceeds to local foundations and charities. A 5K is about the perfect distance for dogs to walk, sniff or spring alongside you. Don't forget your dog poop bags - in some places, it's the law.

Getting outside with your pet will help you both to be more healthy and build that “man’s best friend” bond between you. So get out there and enjoy the weather now before it gets too hot and lose those few pounds you both gained over the winter!

Cabo Dog Boutique has wonderful summer items for your dog such as: dog swimsuits, dog toys, dog treats, eco friendly dog items, and dog apparel.

Sunny's New Years Resolution - an inspiration to all!

Can our dog's really make New Year's Resolutions? According to Mr. Sunny ~ ABSOLUTELY!

This precious toy poodle in Park City has Cushing's Syndrome. Yes, dogs can get Cushing's Syndrome too. Sunny began his new journey weighing 22.5 pounds and now is down to a healthy weight of 17 pounds. Julie (his Mom) makes exercise a priority by taking him on walks with his neighborhood gang and feeding him healthy foods such as green beans and sweet potatoes. Sounds like something all humans should be doing as well. No canned green beans for this boy - too much sodium which makes you gain weight - and that is bad!

In August of last year Sunny was able to begin going up and down some steps and now is able to go on three block walks twice a day. No time to lay around like the other dogs - gotta keep going! It has been a long journey but making progress everyday! Spring and Summer are better months for this little one as exercising in the elements of winter are a bit harder for him.

So - yes dogs can have New Years Resolution's - and this precious boy should be an inspiration to all - even humans! Sunny has overcame major issues and continues to be an encourager to all. Sunny has a long way to go and every day is a new challenge. In 2013, Sunny and his Momma resolve to play with their fabulous dog toys from Cabo Dog and keep exercising and encourage our friends to adopt older dogs - and help them become strong too!
